Empowering Personal Recovery & Professional Growth for the Marginalized
Athens Counseling Facility

The Context
Athens is a city at the crossroads of crisis and resilience. For refugees, Roma communities, survivors of domestic violence, and individuals experiencing homelessness, daily life can mean navigating trauma, isolation, and persistent barriers to employment and stability.
While emergency aid is available, there is a glaring gap in long-term, healing-centered services that help people move from crisis to self-sufficiency.
The Challenge
Marginalized individuals in Athens often face overlapping forms of exclusion—psychological, social, and economic. Current support systems are fragmented, focusing primarily on immediate needs rather than long-term empowerment.
There is need for a dedicated, welcoming space that integrates trauma-informed care with skills development and practical coaching—a place where healing and hope meet action and opportunity.

Our Approach
We are developing a Counseling Facility in downtown Athens designed to bridge this critical gap. This is a developing initiative, and with the help of supporters, we’ll bring it fully to life.
Our integrated model will provide:
- Private, trauma-informed counselling sessions
- Personal coaching to build confidence, resilience, and self-direction
- Soft skills workshops to support communication, time management, and collaboration
- Employment readiness training, including CV support and interview preparation
- Community events to foster trust and belonging
- A digital access platform for remote support and easy registration
- A long-term vision that includes innovative services like Animal-Assisted Therapy and Rehabilitation Centres
These services will be delivered in partnership with trusted grassroots organizations already working with our target populations.
Who We Serve
The Facility is being designed for those who face multiple layers of exclusion:
- Refugees and asylum seekers in transition
- Roma individuals facing systemic marginalization
- Women impacted by domestic or gender-based violence
- Unemployed youth with limited access to support
- People experiencing homelessness
- Frontline volunteers and community workers in need of psychosocial care
