The Context

In recent years, Greece has found itself at the forefront of European statistics highlighting a concerning lack of sexual education and contraceptive usage, leading to an alarming rise in unplanned pregnancies—a stark reality woven into the fabric of Greek society. Despite the staggering statistic that 1 in 4 women aged 18 to 35 grapple with unplanned parenthood, there is a noticeable absence of a consistent support system in Greek society, leaving young couples and women feeling isolated in the face of this daunting challenge.

The Challenge

The mission of The Hope Center team extends beyond merely offering immediate assistance to young women in crisis. It aspires to cultivate a supportive environment where women can feel empowered and find healing. The absence of structured support in society for families navigating unexpected pregnancies, coupled with the absence of sexual education in both the educational system and societal consciousness, underscores the crucial need for a center that guides women through their options and facilitates informed decisions.

Our Approach

The Hope Center team is committed to delivering comprehensive support, encompassing medical assistance, prenatal and postnatal care, and confidential counseling services—all provided free of charge. Our objective is not only to address the immediate medical needs but to meet the emotional needs of those facing the complex decision of abortion through personalized one-on-one and small group counseling sessions. This holistic approach creates a non-judgmental and secure environment, allowing every woman and couple dealing with unintended pregnancies to feel cared for, supported, and valued. Our ultimate aim is to empower individuals with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions, paving the way for a future filled with hope.
